Our Foundation

AENI is an international organization with two-fold mandate: to inspire and to equip individuals with Christ-Centred life skills that will enable them to lead lives that matter as they navigate through their journey of life. Using a Christ-centric approach, AENI guides participants through various life transitions from birth to death. At AENI, mentorship programs are designed to instil Christ-like values in the mentees such as love, compassion, kindness, servant leadership, integrity, humility, peace, joy, patience, self-control, hard work, and excellence. Mentees are guided towards academic, social, personal and spiritual growth aimed at leading fulfilled, transformative and holistic lives for their good and that of the society.

Ambassador Prof. Ruthie Rono

Ambassador Prof. Ruthie Rono

AENI Board Chair

Amb. Prof. Ruthie Rono, brings to AENI a wealth of experience in diplomacy, academy and board management. With a distinguished academic and diplomatic career, she perfectly fits to serve as the Chair of the AENI’s Board. Previously Prof. Rono served in various leadership roles, including as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at USIU-Africa from 2015 to 2021. Her commitment to education extends beyond academia; she currently serves on the University Council of Dedan Kimathi University of Science and Technology and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Kenya Highlands University.

Previously, she represented the Republic of Kenya as Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, and served as Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Her diplomatic service also includes roles as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Zambia.

With a solid foundation in academia and a dedication to leadership and international relations, she continues to contribute to educational and diplomatic endeavours, embodying AENI’s mission of mentorship and youth development.

Dr. Quin Orwa-Juma, an Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics at the United States International University – Africa, embodies a profound dedication to education, mentorship, and community service, guided by her strong faith. Holding a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Kenyatta University, a Master of Arts from Victoria University of Wellington, and a Bachelor of Education in English/Literature from the University of Nairobi, Dr. Juma’s academic background underscores her commitment to scholarly excellence and youth development.

Dr Juma is driven by her growing passion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and continues to make a meaningful impact on the academic and social lives of Kenyan youth, uplifting them through education and mentorship. Her dedication to fostering holistic development aligns seamlessly with the mission of AENI, and she embodies the values of leadership, mentorship, and service that the organisation promotes.

Prof. Martin C. Njoroge

Prof. Martin C. Njoroge

AENI Board Secretary

Prof. Martin C. Njoroge, the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at United States International University — Africa, the founder of AENI brings extensive academic leadership and expertise to AENI. 

Prof Njoroge holds PhD (Linguistics); MA (Linguistics) and BEd (Arts) (Hons) degrees from Kenyatta University and an MA degree in Leadership from Pan Africa Christian University. 

Prof. Njoroge’s commitment to youth development is evident through his advocacy for environmental education as Chair of the Board of Children’s Environmental Rescue in Nairobi as well as serving in various management boards in high schools in Kenya. 

With a deep passion for fostering cross-cultural academic collaborations, Prof. Njoroge is dedicated to creating impactful opportunities for the next generation of leaders. He brings to the board vast national and international collaborative networks that will make AENI reach all corners of the globe. He brings to AENI’s Board extensive experience in leadership, nationally and internationally, having worked with young people for over 3 decades. His many years of service in various boards make him ideal to serve as the Secretary to the Board.

Dr Stella Mbiti

Dr Stella Mbiti

AENI Board Deputy Secretary

Dr. Mbiti is an esteemed Lecturer in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), boasting over 10 years of experience in teaching, research, and innovation delivery. Her academic journey includes earning a PhD in Landscape Architecture from JKUAT and a Master of Environmental Planning & Management from Kenyatta University (KU), both in Kenya.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr Mbiti plays a pivotal role in sustainable development initiatives as the National Manager for the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) in Kenya. She also serves as the secretary for All African SDSN Managers and is a secretariat member of the Food, Land-Use Coalition (FOLU) in Kenya.

Dr Mbiti’s dedication to sustainable development and leadership aligns seamlessly with the values and objectives of AENI. Her extensive experience and expertise make her a valuable addition to the organisation’s efforts in fostering leadership and development among young people.

Dr. Gladys Gakenia

AENI Board Treasurer

Dr. Gladys Gakenia, Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at United States International University-Africa, is a staunch believer in mentorship and empowerment. As Programme Leader of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, she extends her guidance beyond the classroom, particularly supporting students transitioning to different stages in life.
Passionate about empowering young women in STEM fields, Dr. Gakenia conducts workshops and seminars, instilling confidence and curiosity in the next generation. She believes in holistic growth, unlocking youths’ potential through education and mentorship.
Dr. Gakenia is deeply involved with AENI, where she dedicates her expertise to mentorship and educational initiatives. Through her work with AENI, she continues to inspire and empower young people to pursue their dreams and is an advocate for young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). With her sound background in Mathematics and statistics, she is the ideal member to serve as the Treasurer to the AENI Board.

Rev. Purity Murungi

Rev. Purity Murungi

AENI Board Member

Rev. Purity Murungi is an ordained Minister with CITAM (Christ Is The Answer Ministries) Kenya, currently serving as the Deputy Senior Pastor at CITAM Ruiru. She holds a Master’s Degree in Gender and Development studies from The University of Nairobi and a BA in Bible and Counselling from Pan Africa Christian University.
She is a certified life coach and a member of the Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association. Notably, Purity spearheads a Mental Health Wellness Coaching Program known as “8 Weeks of Mental Health Fitness,” demonstrating her dedication to mental well-being and personal growth.
She brings to AENI’s Board priceless wealth of experience in coaching, youth mentorship, vibrant collaborative networks and passion for walking with the youth, thus aligning with AENI’s mission of mentorship and youth development. Through her multifaceted approach to ministry and education, Rev. Purity exemplifies leadership and empowerment, making her a valuable addition to the AENI board.

Mr Nicholas Chege is a Management Psychologist given and driven to the progress of business as a relational process rather than a transactional one. He is the Founder and Director of LUGAWA Inc., a consulting firm focused on aligning entities’ capabilities with the suitable environment for their success and vice versa. He is bringing to the Board of AENI, strategic thinking and transformational approaches to systems and processes.

Nomalanga Sitole is a storyteller and Communicator Extraordinaire who embodies a rare blend of entrepreneurship, inspirational speaking, facilitation, and event management with over 20 years of broadcasting and 15 years of marketing leadership experience. Notable events she has spearheaded include Caxton Magazine events, Mrs. South Africa Semi and Quarter Finals, Lionesses of Africa Business Agility and Demo Days, and Financial Services staff and client events for prominent institutions like Nedbank, Liberty, and ABSA.

Her numerous accolades include the ZAA Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2015 and being identified as one of South Africa’s Top Gender Empowered Companies by Standard Bank Top Women 2023. Nomalanga Sitole brings to the Board values of professionalism, excellence, and commitment to social impact that align seamlessly with AENI’s mission of mentorship and youth development. Through her vast experience and passion for empowering others, she will undoubtedly inspire and guide the next generation of leaders to reach their fullest potential.

Dr. Melphone Mayaka

Dr. Melphone Mayaka

Dr. Melphone Mayaka holds a PhD in Tourism Management from Monash University, Melbourne Australia. He is deeply involved in academia and research. He is a distinguished member of organisations such as the Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA) and the Council for Australasian Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE). Additionally, he serves as adjunct faculty at Melbourne Institute of Technology (MIT).

Furthermore, he is the co-founder and Chair of KenAus Fellowship Inc., a community outreach and prayer ministry dedicated to uplifting and empowering individuals in Melbourne, Australia. His ministry focuses on fostering empowerment and support within diaspora communities, embodying a spirit of service and compassion.

Dr. Mayaka’s alignment with AENI’s mission of mentorship and youth development is evident in his commitment to community empowerment. Through his academic pursuits and community initiatives, he embodies the values of transformative leadership and empowerment that AENI seeks to instil in young people.

Mrs Margaret Mwaura

Mrs Margaret Mwaura

AENI Board Member

Mrs Margaret Mwaura is an accomplished educator, environmentalist and a seasoned youth mentor of many years. She previously taught at Loreto Convent Msongari, Kenya, before founding Teachers Environmental Rescue (TER) and later Children Environmental Rescue (CER), NGOs that advocate for and raise awareness of the importance of conserving the environment and keeping it clean, orderly and safe for all. Currently she serves as the Program Coordinator for CER, and sits on various boards such as the Board of Management of Martin Luther School. She represents children’s environmental security interests in various organisations including Community Forest Association at City Park and Kenya Alliance for Advancement of Children’s Rights. She has travelled widely with and for children to various international events. She is also an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment expert. Mrs Mwaura brings to AENI’s board a wealth of experience in running NGOs, management of boards, and nuggets of wisdom that are crucial for effective and impactful youth mentorship.

Dr Festus Mukoya

Dr Festus Mukoya

Dr. Festus Mukoya is a dedicated Research, Development, and Peacebuilding Professional with over 15 years of experience in promoting social inclusion and empowering marginalized populations in Kenya and Africa. With a strong commitment to achieving human dignity for all, he tirelessly works to alleviate poverty, reduce armed violence, and address social injustices.

Currently serving as the Head of Development Programs at Free Pentecostal Fellowship in Kenya (FPFK), Festus oversees over 18 projects focusing on peacebuilding, resilience, gender advocacy, environmental management, and humanitarian assistance. He is also the founding leader of the Peace Rights Programme, dedicated to advancing peacebuilding and social justice.

Throughout his career, Festus has initiated inter-community dialogues, developed ICT-enabled early warning systems, and facilitated youth and women empowerment programs. His efforts have been recognized with prestigious awards, including a Presidential Award for his contribution to the peace process in Kenya.

Dr. Mukoya’s expertise and dedication to peacebuilding align closely with the values of AENI, making him a valuable addition to the organisation’s efforts in fostering leadership and development among young people.

Dr. Edward Katue Nzinga is a distinguished Curriculum Instructional Design Scientist, Leadership analyst, and Consultant with a remarkable track record spanning over 14 years in senior administrative roles, coupled with over 18 years of experience in higher education teaching and research. Holding a Doctor of Philosophy in Education (PhD) with a focus on Curriculum & Instruction, a Masters of Arts in Leadership (Education), a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), and multiple other academic and professional qualifications, Dr. Nzinga’s expertise is widely recognized in his field.

Currently, Dr. Nzinga serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business, Leadership & Technology at Pan Africa Christian University, where he continues to contribute to the academic and professional development of students. His dedication to education and leadership extends beyond his professional roles. He is actively involved in various professional and public capacities, including serving as Chair of the Interfaith Council and he brings to AENI’s Board much experience from this many years of service in the Lord’s Vineyard.
